More Volume VillageEach week, I will send an email to let you know what you need to for the week to help our shared child be most successful. I will be assigning less homework this year, as studies have shown a large homework load is not as beneficial as we once thought. Please spend time with our child and talk to them using good vocabulary each night. That being said, our child will be expected to read each night, work on long term assignments and complete any work that was not completed in class. Monday - Thursday, there will generally be math and some spelling. When children submit assignments, they can do so using either Google Classroom or by putting items in the "for school" side of their folders. As a general rule, I grade submitted papers nightly and return them the next day. Children should bring them home, in the "for home" side of their folders. They have the opportunity to correct mistakes in another color ink, by writing over them and resubmitting the paper in the "for school" side the day after they are returned. They can do the same in Google Classroom in a new color as well and resubmit. We all learn from our mistakes. The first trimester, I will change the low grade to the higher grade. The second trimester, I will average the first grade and the redone grade. The last trimester, students can still correct their work, but I will not change their grades to prepare them for the rigors of middle school. Please help keep them organized by emptying the for home side of the folder nightly.
