Battle of the Books has officially begun and 20 out of 24 of our children are participating. That being said, we need sets of books so our children can do Battle meaningfully! Children who chose to participate are bringing home permission forms. On the last page, there are the featured books with the number of each I have. I went a little crazy this weekend purchasing them so we could be off with a bang! However, to save my wallet and yours, I am proposing that, rather than buy nine or ten different books, we coordinate our efforts and build up the classroom with sets of five or so of each
book. Just like we signed up for Halloween, it would be great if you could sign up for buying five of the same book, along with donating books you already have on your shelves that match our titles. I have promised our children that, if you want a book returned, and it has your name on the top, you will get it back.
Please help make our classroom inclusive for those children whose parents do not have the luxury of extra money for books, or whose jobs make it impossible to get our children to the public library by helping out if you can. Please coordinate with Mrs. Vernon, Mrs. Fies, Dr. Froum, Mrs. Johnson, or Mrs. Newman. As always, I am happy to answer any and all questions you have!
Here are the titles and the amounts of each I have already:
How Tia Lola Came to Visit/Stay by Julia Alvarez- 2 copies
Skeleton Man by Joseph Bruchac- 2 copies
Honeysuckle House by Andrea Cheng- 0 copies
Chuck Close: Face Book by Chuck Close- 0 copies
Mockingbird by Katherine Erskine- 2 copies
