As a holiday gift, there will be no Question of the Week this week! We have our end of the year party on Friday, from 1-3:30. Children are asked to dress better than normal as it is a more formal party than they have had thus far in elementary school. It is our "News Years Party!"
Students brought home science fair sign ups. They are due by Wednesday. Children who participate are guaranteed at least one 4 in science on their report cards.
For literacy homework, students are expected to write the spelling demons from their test they got incorrect on their test 10 times each. Yes, I'm going old school to try to get them to learn them! Children must get their spelling test signed by you tomorrow night. Obviously, if they earned 100%, they just need to bring back a signed test! If our child does not have at least three Battle of the Books sheets done already, they will be expected to have another one turned in by Friday. Those children who are not doing Battle (we only have two) will be expected to turn in a book report by Friday. They will be given the format tomorrow. Children are expected to read nightly. Another Battle Form must be turned in when school resumes in 2014, if four are not already done.
Math homework will be MJ p.176,177 on Monday, SL 6.5 on Tuesday, 6.6 on Wednesday and 6.7 on Thursday.
This is the last week to turn in corrected work for a higher grade. As a reminder, students must put convert the fractional grade to a percent in order for me to regrade it.
On Wednesday, I will be out part of the day to support the student who lost his father at the wake and funeral. Our shared child may need some extra support that night as well. The children in class have been wonderful to their peer and have made me proud.
Please enjoy our wonderful child over the Winter Break. They have worked hard and deserve some time to just play and be kids. Thanks for sharing them with me. I have the best job in the world. I wish you all a healthy, and happy 2014.
